A terminally woke troupe of theatre artists scrambles to create an elementary-school pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month while being historically accurate and offending no one. This may be an impossible task, but these four well-meaning (yet politically insensitive) actors, directors, and teachers bravely bumble through the challenge. Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in this wickedly funny roast of modern society and performative activism. Penned by Lakota playwright Larissa FastHorse, The Thanksgiving Play made its Broadway debut in 2023 as the first play by a known female Native American playwright produced on Broadway.
